Evelyn Pinner

ONBOARDING & COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR

As the Onboarding and Compliance Coordinator at MMG, Evelyn Pinner shares her insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and personal growth within the company.

How did you get into the Real Estate Industry?

My background is legal; I have a paralegal degree and have worked for attorneys all my life. When I was preparing to welcome my first child, I didn't want to stay in the legal field—depositions can last forever. I wanted a better work-life balance. A friend told me that Marcus Millichap had just come into San Antonio, so I interviewed with the regional manager. It felt like talking to an old friend. I met Mike Watson there, and we've worked together ever since!

What is your role at the company?

I'm so excited that my role has recently changed. My new title is Onboarding and Compliance Coordinator. I love this role—it's similar to the Operations Manager position I previously held for 13 years, but now I'm one of the first people introduced to new hires. I love making a positive first impression for the company.

What is your favorite aspect of working here?

My favorite aspect of working at MMG is the sense of teamwork. I never feel alone; we're truly a team. When I reach out for help, I know my colleagues have my back and will do whatever they can to support me.

How is MMG different from other companies?

The collaboration at MMG is what makes it stand out. Without collaboration, you don't have a team. It's all interconnected—collaboration, transparency, and teamwork. You need all of them to create the team we have at MMG.

Who are some of your major influences at work?

Mike Watson has always been a significant influence on me. He simplifies things and is a great teacher. Karisa is another major influence; she gives just enough information and then lets me explore hands-on. I appreciate that she trusts me to add my spin and take off the training wheels.

What is something unique about you (a fun fact) that few people are aware of?

I was the fifth runner-up for Miss San Antonio in 1990. I worked for an attorney in entertainment law at the time, dealing with clients like Eddie Money and Sean Elliott. A photographer who came in for Sean Elliott did my headshots and passed my photos along, which led to me entering the Miss San Antonio pageant.

What is your favorite destination you've visited, and why?

Destin, Florida has to be my favorite. It was the first time I had seen a white sand beach, and it was breathtaking.
